Safe Jobs Save Lives: Keep the Promise Alive

On April 28, 2012 CWA and the US labor movement will once again celebrate and observe Workers' Memorial Day.

On Workers Memorial Day, we remember our brothers and sisters who have died in service to the company. Participation in the 2012 Workers' Memorial Day is of particular significance to CWA as wel lost five members to workplace fatalities during 2011 and already one in 2012. In addition, many of our members have suffered work-related injuries, illnesses and "near misses".

Four decades ago, Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act promising all workers the right to safe working conditions. CWA has fought hard to make that promise a reality, however our work is not complete. We must increase our efforts to ensure employers provide safe working conditions.
