Grammy Needs a Kidney

Jami Reitz is a 62-year-old woman who is very ill.  She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2009.  She began dialysis in October, 2014 when it progressed to end stage kidney disease. However, a kidney transplant is her best chance for long-term survival. The cost of a transplant can be overwhelming.

Jami is the Best friend of CWA 4340 member Norma Sommerfelt and cousin to member Marc Mingione.  She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland Central Catholic High School. She got married and was a stay at home Mom for 13 years with her three children.  She went on to work for 25 years as the litigation docket person at a large law firm in downtown Cleveland. She left work when she went on dialysis.  She loves spending time with her four grandbabies and working on paper crafting.  Together, Jami and her family are committed to seeing her through transplant.

Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with Medicare, Jami is facing very high expenses including whatever costs Medicare does not cover for the transplant itself.  In addition, she is facing post-transplant medications of up to $2,000 per month, co-pays, lab fees and more.

To help with the financial burden of Jami’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising event in her honor is planned for:

Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Saint Angela Merici Parish Hall (beneath the church)
20970 Lorain Road; Fairview Park, OH 44126

Adults - $10; Children - $5

Rigatoni dinner with salad, bread & drinks (water, pop & coffee)!

There will be a 50-50 raffle & side boards as well as other raffles!!

Jami will also have a table of her crafts available for sale to help the cause!!!
